On May 22, 2007, the Association for Progressive Communications (APC) and Third World Institute (ITeM) have launched a major report overlooking at state of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) policy both at global and national levels, with a particular emphasis on impacts on the lives of people living in developing countries.

The report comes back on issues and perspectives of the WSIS event. It studies ICT policies of major organizations including ICANN, ITU, UNDP, UNESCO and WIPO. According to the authors, "the report includes provocative, analytical essays on five international institutions questioning the extent to which they allow all stake-holders to participate in their processes." There is a special section on how to measure progress.

The Global Information Society Watch 2007 report finally overlooks at the situation of national ICT policies through out the publication of twenty-two country reports. It concludes that when it comes to ICTs for development, there are some conspicuous similarities between the countries, "excluding Spain, the other twenty-one countries each show obvious evidence of the digital divide which impacts on the majority of people negatively."

This Report is the first in a series of yearly reports covering the state of the information society from the perspectives of civil society and stakeholders in the global South. The publication released under Creative Commons license can be downloaded in one large PDF file or by chapter (including reports per organization and country) from the new www.globaliswatch.org Web site.

KINDNESS Pays !

One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry. He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door.

Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water. She thought he looked hungry so
brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked, "How much do I owe you?"

"You don't owe me anything," she replied "Mother has taught us never to accept payment for a kindness." He said... "Then I thank you from my heart." As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt; stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.

Years later that young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease. Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes. Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room. Dressed in his doctor's gown he went in to see her.
He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to the case.

After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it
would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally, she looked, and something caught ; her attention on the side as She read these words.....

"Paid in full with one glass of milk." (Signed) Dr. Howard Kelly.
Tears of joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed: "Thank You, GOD, that Your love has spread abroad through human hearts
and hands."

The Sustainable Development Association (SDA) calls for volunteers for the organizing committee in the YACR (Youth Action Call Resound) which is going to be implemented on behalf of the World Bank Group;

AIMUN2007 ( Alexandria International Model United Nations);

This is going to simulate the United Nations Peacebuilding Commission (UNPC), which is an organ established in December 2006, after being announced and demanded in the Millennium Declaration, in order to take countries, emerging from a conflict, out of poverty.

The needed organizers will be responsible for preparing for all the needed organizational staff for the model, and all the tasks will be divided on the following committees

1- Logistics
2- Public Relation.
3- Media

The volunteers will join each group according to his CV and according to the interview.

The applicant requirements are:
1. Age between (18-25)
2. Good English at least,
3. Good communication skills,
4. Responsible and can work in a team,
5. Ready to work under pressure.
6- Reliable and can deal with dead lines.
7- Creative, motive, initiative.

The candidates will submit to an interview after sending their CVs which will be regarded till 7, May, 2007 and those short listed applicant will be notified later.

مصطلحات الحاسب 3



اختصار لمستعرض الوب. وهو برنامج يستعمل لاستكشاف موارد الإنترنت والإنترانت. يتيح لك المستعرض رؤية النصوص والرسوم وغيرها من أنواع الملفات. يقدم المستعرض المعلومات كمستند أو صفحة على الشاشة. يستخدم معضم الأشخاص نتسكايب نافيغيتر أو مايكروسوفت إنترنت إكسبلورر.

مشتم Sniffer :
برنامج صغير يحمله متطفل في كمبيوترك, مصمم لمراقبة حركة مرور معينة في الشبكة. يراقب المشتم أول جزء من أي جلسة تسجيل دخول بعيد تتضمن هوية وكلمة مرور وإسم مضيف لشخص يحاول تسجيل دخوله في آلة أخرة. وحالما تصبح تلك المعلومات في يد المتطفل، بإمكانه تسجيل الدخول متى ما شاء في ذلك النظام.

مضيف Host :
الكمبيوتر المركزي أو المتحكم في بيئة شبكاتية ، يزود خدمات يستطيع باقي الكمبيوترات الوصول إليها عبرة الشبكة. المضيف هو أيضاً نظام كبير يمكن الوصول إليه من الإنترنت.

معاين Viewer :
برنامج يشغله المستعرض لمعاينة ملف لا يستطيع معالجته بنفسه. يسمى أحياناً برنامج مساعد. يعرض المعاين لقطات الفيديو وملفات الحركات.

مفتاح التشفير Encryption Key :
رقم سري فريد يستعمل لتشفير البيانات من أجل حمايتها من عمليات الوصول غير المرخص لها.

ملقم بروكسي Proxy Server :
برنامج يشتغل في ملقم متواجد بين شبكتك المناطقية المحلية أو الإنترانتك وبين الإنترنت. في محاولة منه لإخفاء بنية الشبكة عن المتطفلين. يصفي هذا البرنامج كل الإتصالات الصادرة لكي تظهر كلها وكأنها قادمة من نفس الآلة. يقوم ملقم البروكسي أيضاً بتمرير طلبك إلى الإنترنت ثم يعترض سبيل الجواب ثم يمرره إليك في عقدتك الشبكاتية. بإمكان مسؤول النظام أيضاً تنظيم النقاط االخارجية التي يستطيع مستخدمو الشبكة المناطقية المحلية الإتصال بها.

ملقم وب Web Server :
حزمة أجهزة وبرامج تزود خدمات لمستضافي الوب.

ملقم وصول Access Server :
كمبيوتر يزود وصولاً إلى المستخدمين البعيدين الذين يتصلون بالنظام ويصلون إلى موارد الشبكة من خلال كمبيوتراتهم الموصولة بالشبكة مباشرة. يسمى أيضاً ملقم وصول بعيد.

مودم Modem :
لفظة مركبة من Modulator/Demodulator (مضمن/مزيل تضمين) ؛ جهاز يتيح للكمبيوتر إرسال معلومات عبر خطوط الهاتف من خلال الترجمة بين الإشارات الرقمية التي يستعملها الكمبيوتر وبين الإشارات النظيرية (Analog) المناسبة للإستعمال على نظام الهاتف. عند الإرسال يضمن المودم المعلومات الرقمية في إشارة حاملة على خط الهاتف. وعند الإستلام ينفذ المودم عكس تلك العملية ليزيل تضمين البيانات من الإشارة الحاملة.

موزايك Mosaic :
مستعرض وب طوره المركز الوطني لبرامج البرمجة المتفرقة (NCSA) في جامعة إيلينوي. هناك عدة مستعرضات ممتازة مشتقة من موزايك ، أشهرها هو نتسكايب نافيغيتر من شركو نتسكايب كوميونيكايشن.

نص تشعبي Hyper Text :
طريقة لتقديم المعلومات بحيث يتمكن المستخدم من معاينتها في طريقة غير تسلسلية ، بغض النظر عن كيفية ترتيب المواضيع يمكنك استعراض المعلومات بمرونة كبيرة ، مع اختيار سلوك مسار جديد كل مرة. عندما تنقر موضعاً ساخناً أو ارتباطاً يتم تنشيط قفزة إلى مستند نصوص آخر ، قد يكون موجوداً في نفس الملقم أو في ملقم مختلف بعيد آلاف الكيلومترات.

نموذج Form :
عنصر HTML يتيح للمستخدمين ملء معلومات في مربعات فارغة أو لوائح أو غيرها من الأمور ثم تسليم تلك البانات لتتم معالجتها. العنصر Form محدد المستوى 2 من HTML.

هوت جافا Hot Java :
مستعرض وب من شركة صن مايكروسيستمز. إنه المستعرض الذي له علاقة بالجافا ، لغة البرمجة المصممة لإنشاء برامج صغيرة قابلة للتشغيل يمكن تحميلها وتشغيلها بسرعة في مقدار صغير من الذاكرة.

وسم Tag :
عنصر في لغة HTML يستعمل في إنشاء صفحة وب. الوسم هو نص محصور بين علامتي أصغر من وأكبر من يبلغ المستعرض معنى كل جزء من الصفحة. مثلاً ، يشير الوسم

إلى بداية ترويسية ذات مستوى 1 ويشير الوسم

إلى نهاية تلك الترويسية.

الوورلد وايد وب World wide web :
اختصارها WWW أو W3 أو ببساطة وب. تشكيلة هائلة الحجم من صفحات نصوص تشعبية على الإنترنت. تنمو حركة السير في الوب بسرعة أكبر من أي خدمة أخرى على الإنترنت ، والسبب يصبح واضحاً عندما تجرب استعمال مستعرض ما.

يوزنت Usenet :
كلمة مؤلفة من User Network. شبكة عالمية غير تجارية تربط عدة آلاف المواقع. رغم أن هناك صلة وثيقة بين يوزنت واللإنترنت إلا أنهما ليسا الشيء نفسه. فليس كل كمبيوتر موصل بالإنترنت هو جزء من يوزنت ، والعكس . كما هو الحال مع الإنترنت لا تملك يوزنت مكاناً مركزياً يتحكم بها ؛ فمن الممكن أن يشغلها الأشخاص الذين يستعملونها. ومع تواجد ما يزيد عن 10000 مجموعة أخبار ، يتم الوصول إلى يوزنت من قبل ملايين الأشخاص في أكثر من 100 بلد كل يوم.

يونيكود Unicode :
شيفرة أحرف من 16 بت ، يعرفها الإتحاد Unicode Consortium والمقاييس Iso 10646 ، تدعم ما أقصاه 65536 حرفاً مختلفاً وليس الأحرف 265 المتوفرة في مجموعة الأحرف آسكي ASCII الحالية.
